Once of the best gem it offers is Jomalig Island that will surely capture your hearts. As how local tourist say it, "Majo-jomalig ka talaga sa ganda!".
HOW TO GET THERE
- Ride a Raymond bus bound for Infanta/ Real, Quezon at Raymond Transportation Terminal in Legarda, Sampaloc, Manila (near Arellano University). The fare is P195 per head. Note that the first bus leaves at 11:30 pm and the second one at 1:00 am.
- Tell the bus attendant to drop you off at Real Port and inform him you are going to Jomalig.
- Travel time is 4 hours without traffic.
Note:
- During peak season (March, April, May/ Regular Holidays) busses leave every hour.
- 1:00 am schedule is the most ideal time to take so you can catch the earliest boat trip to Jomalig that sails at 6:00 am.
- Take a boat going to Jomalig Island. Fare is P400 (inclusive of a meal). Travel time is 4 to 5 hours depending on the season of your visit. Note that these travels are being regulated by local government and thus, tourists are required to have a resort reservation beforehand. So make sure to have a reservation first. Or at least have a contact to your resort.
- It is highly advisable to contact first the Tourism Unit of Jomalig before going to the island. They will be more than welcome to assist you. You can ask them about boat trip schedules and its captain's contact number, updated resort rates, prices of goods and services on the island, LGU fees and even real-time weather condition. It will surely save your time, energy and money.
- You can try and get in touch with Melben Del Castillo, Tourism Unit Head of Jomalig thru 0910 262 8168/ 0939 177 4888. Likewise, you can also get in touch via Jomalig, Quezon's official FB page.

Side Notes:
- During low tide, big boats cannot get closer to the shore so you have to ride on a styrophore raft for Php 20 each.
- For picky eaters, please bring your own lunch as the inclusive meal is a simple one prepared by one of the boat men.
- Water-proof all you things and your bag as the boat ride going to the island is very rough. This usually happens during June to August and "ber" months.
- Usual travel time is 4 hours but during this season, it may bump to 6 hours.
- Best months to visit Jomalig are March, April and May. But if you wish to visit on other months, just ask the tourism office for weather updates.
- Once you arrive there, Register at the Tourism's quarters. You will be asked to pay an LGU fee of P170 each (Environmental fee P100, Tourism fee P50 and Entry fee P20).
- Then, ride a habal-habal going to your chosen resort. Fare varies depending on the distance of your resort.
- Habal-habal fare starts at P40 per head. Resorts near Landing (port area) cover this fare amount.
- Resorts around Sitio Salibungot (where the iconic I ❤ Jomalig stands) costs P70.
- Farther resorts and beaches may cost you P100 to P300.
WHERE TO STAY
- There are about 50 resorts on the island but here are some of the best ones base on reviews and just by looking at the number of guests they have:
Bananas Beach Resort – Contact 0909 986 7482
Tejada’s Resort: Aida Tejada (owner) 0907-5375234
South Pacific Island Resort – Contact Thelma 0907-8285161
Huts for Rent at Sitio Salibungot: Contact Lyra Pacheco – 0930-7968665
Jojomalig Beach Resort – Contact 09399034275
Apples Beach Resort – Contact: 09106597361 SMART and 09157992954 GLOBE
- You can order freshly caught fish from fishermen docking on the shore near Banana's. Squid and any variety of (pricey) fish cost Php 100-120 only per kilo. Lobsters are Php 650-700 per kilo. So if you wish to eat seafood but too lazy to buy one in Real Port, you can still buy from firshermen. Plus, you are also helping them.
- There is a sari-sari store closed to Banana's but prices of goods are double. Thus, on your way to the resort, I suggest you to ask your habal driver to take a stop over at any grocery stores in Talisoy (Jomalig's poblacion). Stores there follow DTI's SRP.
- Network signal at the island is patchy. However, in Talisoy, Globe Telecom, SMART Communications and SUN Cellular are reliably working. You can even surf the net smoothly (H+).
- There's NO cash dispensing machine on the island so bring extra money. But SMART Padala is available.
- Electricity runs from 5:00 pm to 2:00 am only so charge your gadgets and power banks.
WHERE TO GO IN JOMALIG?
- From its pristine beaches, verdant pastures, rolling hills, impeccably preserved marine biodiversity, rich flora and fauna to its noteworthy culture and tradition, abandoned Japanese treasure hunting sites, palatable delicacies and warm people, Jomalig has score of wonders yet to discover.
- You can explore the island via boat or habal-habal and see:
- Salibungot Beach (site of I ❤ Jomalig and mini Maldives)
- Fish Sanctuary (snorkeling spot)
- Lingayen Cove (rock formations)
- Sadong River (golden sand)
- Little Boracay (white sand)
- Kanaway Beach (sand dunes, rock formations and pink beach)
- Tree of Forever (a four-season tree in the middle of grassland)
- Nameless cove
- Habal-habal island tour costs P600 each.
- Island hopping costs P350 each. Or you can charter a boat for P5,000. Boat capacity is 15 pax.
- Dedicate a day for island tour/ hopping.
GOING HOME
- Going home is never a problem as well.
- Just ride a habal-habal going to Jomalig port/ Landing.
- From Jomalig port, ride a boat bound for Real port. Fare is P400 inclusive of a meal. Again, for picky eater, bring a packed meal from your breakfast.
- In Real, ride a trike going to highway/main road where busses bound for Cubao pass by. Trike fare is P30 while the Bus fare is P195.
